Using digital to create a new in-store experience for Sephora’s flagship store in China.

CHALLENGE

Sephora wanted to boost sales in the fine fragrances category through an innovative in-store digital experience to be featured in its Nanjing Road flagship store in Shanghai. It commissioned MADJOR to design and create this experience.

SOLUTION

MADJOR started by conducting focus groups to better understand Chinese women’s attitude towards fine fragrances. Based on the insights uncovered, we created the “Fragrance bar”: a set of 2 iPad applications that allow customers to reconnect with the practical and emotional benefits of fine fragrances. 

RESULT

The “fragrance bar” not only resulted in increased traffic to the “fragrances” section but was also featured in many publications including CBN Weekly as a best practice in using digital inside the store.
